I think it could be due to excess watering. How frequently do you water? Is there any proper drainage to the pot? Did you provide any nutrients?

I'll check for over-watering. I water it daily. haven't provided any drainage since the soil is sandy and tends to come out of the drain holes. I'm growing it in wooden pallet. I had lined it with plastic before filling the soil. Didn't provide any drain hole since the soil is sandy and tends to fall out from drain hole. But i feel the excess water does come out due to overlapping pieces of plastic lining i have used.
Additionally in the same pallet i am also growing another gourd creeper but it doesn't show such symptoms.
I used Farmyard manure made out of cow dung and mulched with wood shaving. Can too much of FYM cause such damage? almost 7 years ago.
