How to start slips from sweet potato?

Sweet potato    OK Zone 7

What is the best way to start slips from sweet potato and when is it best to transplant them? Lots of different methods out there and I’d like to hear what folks on here think.

I use the toothpicks and jars method. I wrote a profile on sweet potatoes here that shares more on that style of propagation:

You can get quite a few starts off one potato that way. Easy as pie.

Just make sure you don't ever let them see a freeze - they hate that. You're better off planting late rather than early.
