I've noticed that when I fertilize my lemon tree or any other tree for that matter in 2 or 3 days the soil surface has fungus? why?

Fungi are heterotrophs meaning they get resources from the environment
Providing nutrients helps them grow

so is that good or bad? shall i remove the infected surface and replace with a new compost while adding the firtilizer in a different way?
about 9 years ago.
