Curling leaves on gooseberries

Gooseberry    Warrington

Leaves on our gooseberry plants are all curled is this a serious problem and will the gooseberrys still be edible

This looks like aphid feeding damage. Scout the plants for aphids by turning over the leaves. If they are infested, remove as many as possible by hand and spray the plants with an insecticidal soap to kill the remainder. Be vigilant, aphids are prolific and just a handful left on the plants will quickly turn into an infestation again. Let us know how you get on.

I agree with Lindsay - have seen nearly identical symptoms on currants (gooseberry relative).
