Why are the leaves on my walnut tree red/brown color

Walnut    Cranmore shepton mallet somerset

Why have the leaves on my walnut tree come out as red/brown color this year instead of the usual green colour

Many trees will have an increased amounts of anthocyanin (red pigments that protect them from UV light) when they first emerge.
With the wet year we've had many trees have increased the concentration of these pigments to help them cope with the water stress.
As soon as the leaves mature and they are no longer drowning in water they should turn green.
I would like to add if the red color persists and the plant start to lose leaves this would could either indicate root issues such as girdling roots or root rot or damage or disease to the trunk of the tree.
