Answers
Desired population of 12 plants per meter squared. Multiply by 10,000 meter squared per hectare gives equivalent population of 120,000 plants per hectare. Seeding rate: 120,000 plants/ha divided by 6500 seeds/kg equals 18.46 kg seed/ha if no other factors. But with 90 percent germination we have 18.46 kg divided by 0.90 which equals 20.51 kg/ha for answer to (a.) Then if the field factor causes 25% loss, then 20.51 kg/ha divided by 0.75 which equals 27.35 kg/ha for answer to (b.)
