White paste substance on tomato

Tomato    ohio

Some tomatoes have a white paste substance coming out of cracks. what is it? Other tomatoes appear to be okay. I have five tomato plants growing.

If the tomato is ripe, or over ripe, It might be a fungus that develops. It often appears fuzzy if you look very close.

Yes, that is pretty much what it looks like. I haven't seen any more tomatoes like that though, so I guess it is okay to eat a tomato from that plant as long as it looks healthy?

There is a common soil-borne fungus called Geotrichum candidum that causes sour rot of various fruits. It has a yeasty appearance and might be your culprit. There are some good photos at http://allaboutgrowingtomatoes.blogsp....
