Edible leaves

General    None Given

hey guys!

I'm into jucing greens it's just that I'm not so sure of what's edible and what's not from the veggies leaves. I know you can't eat tomato leaves but that's about it. I don't want to juice something toxic like cucumber leaves gives me the creeps because of how itchy my hands become after touching them lol

I would like to know about
Peas
Beans
Broccoli
Okra
Eggplants
Artichoke
Brussels sprouts
Carrots
Squash
Zucchini
Bell pepper

Please help on this matter if there is a link or something on this

Thanks
Reem

yes: Broccoli, Okra, Brussels sprouts, peas -- as far as I know, all brassicas (cabbage family plants) and mallow-family plants are safe to eat. Pea shoots are grown as a choice green; some varieties are harvested specifically for the greens.
maybe: carrots (some people don't find them palatable or have negative reactions, but see this link:

maybe (research the specific variety): Beans
no (nightshade family): Eggplants, Bell pepper, Tomato, Potato
no, very bitter!!: Artichoke

Nicole Castle Brookus commented,
Adding to common garden plants with edible leaves: sweet potatoes, beets, radishes, all allium spp., and turnips. Plus, of course, the plants typically grown for the greens themselves.

Then there are numerous common plants with tasty edible leaves. The usual caveats apply about 100% being sure of your identification, but also be careful where you harvest. Near the road or where domesticated animals have access is not recommended. "Very" edible plants include all kinds of plantain (Plantago spp., not the banana-like fruit), chickweed, violets (Viola spp., NOT African Violets), wild onions and garlic, and purslane. Some plants commonly citied as wild edibles -- like dandelions, amaranth and dock -- are not ones you want to eat in large quantities raw.

Your question needs to be narrower. We cannot advise on which are good to juice. There are 153 edible plants on PlantVillage. Please narrow your question down. Thanks
