Yellow Fuzzy Stuff Around Roots

Potato    Southern California

I am a first time potato grower, I just planted some red potatoes that sprouted in my kitchen. While I was arranging my containers today I noticed some yellow fuzzy stuff, and upon investigation found in the spots where it was had a lot of roots by the feel of it.
I wanted to know if this is something normal for the roots or if it's an unhealthy fungus/mold.

It is hard to say without an image. It could in fact me insects feeding on the roots. Some plant feeding insects specialize on roots and are yellow. They can also feel fuzzy to touch. Can you provide an image.
It could also be a fungi but then it would not feel fuzzy as it would collapse under the weight of your finger becuase they 'fuzzy parts' are hyphae that are fragile fluid filled tubes.

Post a picture please.
