I think it may be black sooty mold (fungal growth). Usually the sooty mold can be seen on leaves, stems, and/or fruit of plants. The sap sucking insects like whiteflies, mealybugs, scale, aphids etc. secret the sugary substance (honeydew) on infected plants which helps in developing sooty mold. Although sooty molds don’t infect plants but causes indirect damage by inhibiting sunlight penetration and photosynthesis. So check your plants for any insect infestation.
It can be controlled by spraying starch or wash it off with warm soapy water.
