Strawberry leaves disappearing

Strawberry    None Given

Planted new strawberry plants next to existing plants. Some things (someone?) ate the leaves on two of the three new plants the first night they were in. I have had issues with things eating the berries, but never the leaves. The old plants were totally untouched. How do I protect? Cayenne? Mothballs? They are in a wire-fenced vegy garden area, but next to a wood fence, so some critters (squirrels, chipmunks) could get to them.

Nothing to show pics of. Just some strawberry plant leaves gone. No holes in them, not wilted, just gone

Slugs and snails ate all my strawberry leaves. they may like the new variety better. Go out when it is raining or there is morning dew and pick them off. also a little beer in cups are great traps!

good luck
