What type of squash is green with yellow stripes?

Squash    Calgary, Alberta

Thought had planted zucchini, but this squash in photo was harvested? Trying to identify type of squash. Appreciate any help you can give me, thanks

I cut it open this evening for supper and it cut easily and was firm fleshed and a pale yellow in color very moist . We shredded it and added it to a hash dish which tasted lovely. Will check vine tmw to see if other fruit is stripped or plain green. Appreciate response on what it might be. Thanks

Wow! If it's a striped zucchini variety, it's w-a-a-a-y overmature. Try cutting it open; if it's a summer squash, it'll have a tough rind and soft, white, punky interior with large seeds.

Do you have smaller fruits on the same vine? If so, cut one of them open. If it's a zucchini, you should be able to puncture the skin with a fingernail and the interior will be firm. Saute it with a little garlic and fresh basil. Yum!

It might also have come from a rogue seed that hybridized in the field last summer, possibly cross-pollinated by a pumpkin or a winter squash.

It resembles a delicata winter squash, except the color pattern is reversed. Delicatas are yellow with thin green stripes. Maybe a cross?
