Coconut    Tirunelveli

We have coconut trees in a very low saline soil.There is very low yield .what can be done to increase the yield in coconut.

Hi Bharath, How old the trees are? Which cultivar you are growing? Does your field have proper drainage? Do you know the pH of the soil?

It is better to go for soil testing before taking any measures.
According to Tiago de A. Pereira et al., the yield of dwarf coconut can be increased in saline-sodic soil by applying potassium sulfate.

I had contacted the Coconut Development Board in India regarding the need for salt application in Coconut plants and there opinion is that applying salt doesn't have effect on coconut plant yield. they also said that soils with lot of rocks need application of salt for quicker disintegration of rocks into soil.
