What does it take to have the PlantVillage dataset available?

PlantVillage    Canada

So, I have searched through the blog and seen multiple requests to access the PlantVillage dataset. The reply from the author so far is "We don't have the resources to host the data set at present".
However, I understand that the dataset was published previously, and then taken down (the download links for images are no longer valid). That makes me wonder what changed? What does it take to have the dataset accessible gain?

Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the work that you have done. The dataset is of great help to researchers working with plant disease.

I am definitely not sure about data sharing and legal requirement. I just think that there might be other alternatives for affordable file sharing. For example, Onedrive provides 1TB for users with Office365, which has very attractive rate for University faculty/students. A quick google search would show the original 50K+ images dataset (or its modified version) available on github as well: https://github.com/salathegroup/plant...
(again, I am not sure if it is appropriate to post the link here)
