The Locust AI dataset is made up of images collected from surveys submitted through the eLocust3m app.

The Locust AI model is a TensorFlow implementation of InceptionV3 image classifier that was pretrained of imagenet and fine tuned on our custom locust stage dataset

Each image that is uploaded along with a survey from eLcoust3m is automatically ran through a series of independent binary image classifiers. The 1st classifier tries to determine if there is any type of locust(s) in the image. If the 1st classifier says there are locusts in the image, a 2nd classifier then tries to determine if the locust(s) are in the adult or hopper stage. If the 2nd classifier says adult, then a 3rd classifier tries to determine if the locust(s) is an imature or mature adult.
