Introduction

CETC IL Project Management Workshop
May 23-25, 2022

The Current and Emerging Threats to Crops Innovation Lab management hosted a free Project Management Course May 23-25, 2022 organized by Michigan State University.

This course featured a panel of experts, followed by the opportunity for participants to ask questions. It was an opportunity for the global community to learn how to effectively run a project.

Securing and managing funding for research projects is an essential skill any successful researcher needs to acquire. To build this capacity, our lab is offering a 3-day virtual training workshop in project management. The training will provide a broad overview on a wide variety of topics related to project planning, design, and implementation, and writing grant proposals for a variety of funding agencies.

  • Day 1: Pre-Project: Setting the stage covered project management aspects and activities prior to receiving a grant, including finding funding, writing a winning grant proposal, and project planning and design.
  • Day 2: During the Project covered project implementation, including project startup, adaptive management, impact evaluation, budgets, and financial management and reporting.
  • Day 3: Communication & Follow-Up covered data management, real-time data visualization and analysis, project communication and publications, and sustainability.

The event recordings are posted here, where participants can continue the conversation, interact with our presenters, and ask additional questions. Recordings and other training materials are available in both French and Spanish in addition to English. (Some materials are still being processed.)
