Did I pruned my pecan the right way?

Hi there,
I have this 2 year old Kiowa pecan plant planted in March 2016.
I pruned it last week.
Now I wonder if I cut it too low.
Should I have cut it a little bit higher?
Will it have problems?
I read that I have to cut also 1/3 or 1/2 of the last year growing.
They are so little, I don't have the courage to do it, should I?

According to New Mexico State University, one can prune dormant nursery trees from top 1/3 to 1/2 of the previous season’s growth. This heading cut pruning leads to the whip 36–42 inches tall. It is mainly done to enhance growth and to encourage upright shoot growth in coming spring season.
