What is causing these leaves to blister like this?

General

I have several redcurrant plants which recently started developing these strange symptoms on their leaves. Almost looks like blisters. I posted these on another gardening forum I use and somebody suggested that it could be how white pine blister rust presents itself on currants but this doesn't seem to check out. Any ideas?

The RHS says it's currant blister aphid.

Does not affect the fruit, and no treatment is needed.
Look underneath the leaves for the aphids.

For the fall (to reduce the populations of egg-laying aphids) and for next year, I'd make sure I had some early-flowering plants for beneficial insects nearby. I plant lots of yarrow, but other tiny-flowered plants (especially natives) are good. I had so many aphids on my kale leaves in April that they looked gray and fuzzy, but then the lady bugs and soldier beetles appeared, and within 2 days my kales were aphid-free!

David Brewer commented,
Tanya thank you very much - there was a major aphid infestation that I did not spot! Never seen aphids cause symptoms like that before.

Found the aphids that were causing it. They are on most leaves, can't believe I missed them!
