Raised bed not draining

General

We have had some heavy rain recently and I noticed some puddles on the surface of my raised bed and now I’m a bit worried that water isn’t draining properly. Is there anything I can do to aid the drainage through?

If it's a continuing problem, you can dig down and find out if there's a less-permeable layer of soil under your raised beds. I've seen someone use an auger attached to a drill to make a lot of holes in the less-permeable layer of soil to improve drainage, but that was a rather extreme case, where the soil had been compacted.

Adding a good layer of mulch, 3-4 inches, will absorb a lot of water and keep the soil from getting as waterlogged in heavy rains. It will also give the worms a place to go when the soil is saturated.

We here have to over 3" in the last few day. IMHO it's nothing to worry about
