Where are you? And does the tip seem fuzzy as it if was a fungal infection? Do you find that the phenomenon appears in close growing chilis? over 7 years ago.
This could be a condition called "blossom end rot", which is caused by Calcium deficiency and/or uneven watering practices. The blossom end of tomatoes, peppers and squash gets brown and shrivels up or rots, depending on air moisture content. Once a "fruit" exhibits that condition, it cannot be undone, but future fruits can often be saved by applying a liquid calcium foliar spray. Other forms of calcium, such as lime, gypsum or egg shells aren't bio-available to the plant fast enough to make a difference. They have to be applied before planting. over 7 years ago.
