White spots on zucchini leaves

Squash    ojai ca

Hello,

I am a first time gardener. My zucchini plants are getting more and more white spots on them. I don't think it is fungus because the leaves do not feel powdery. I just noticed tiny white flies coming off the plant when touched. Are these flies detrimental to the plant and how to I get rid of them naturally?
I am also wondering if the plant with completely white leaves is just a variety with that coloration, if its getting sunburned, or if its the flies!?

Thanks for your feedback

Hi Lauren,
The flies are most likely 'silverleaf white flies', they are leaf sucking insects, love vegetables, and can be frequently found in squash. Have a look at the fact sheet from NSW Department of Primary Industries (Australia) http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/asse...
