Is this a guava tree and why are top branches loosing leaves and buds and branches turning dark?

Guava    None Given

Hi hopefully from the photo you'll be able to tell if it is a guava. I know nothing about them, but in the past few weeks it's started to loose leaves and buds and the top branches are turning dark. Anyone know why this might happen? Thank you!

Yes the plant looks like strawberry guava. The falling of leaves may happens for various reasons like weather conditions (unseasonal cold, frost or hot weather), pests and diseases etc. Also the strawberry guava is very sensitive to water logging conditions. Make sure not to water them excessively and also provide proper drainage to the soil.

Ba commented,
Thanks Ravi. I really appreciate this information. I'm in CA and it did get into the 90's the other day. Otherwise it's not terribly hot or cold. Not sure that I am watering it too much, but I will check out the drainage situation. Do you identify other plants? I have a mystery plant that almost looks like something edible but I have no clue. If I show you a picture perhaps you would know? Thank you.
