Leaves fall off and new growth begins again there is about a foot of trunk showing where the leaves fall off.
The tree started from a seed 3 years ago standing in a 5 gallon pot the stem is 3 ft tall and you can see where the leaves have fallen off. During the summer, the leaves remain on the plant and stay green - once brought inside for the winter, I have new growth and once the leaves reach 5 inches long they turn brown and fall off new growth continues to appear.
