Melon in container?

Cantaloupe    NY

Is it possible to grow melon in a container? I am trying to start a balcony garden and I am limited to containers. Has anybody tried this and had success? If so which variety?

Purchased a cantaloupe from a local grocery store. When I cut it open, and discarded the seeds, I observed a whitish film on the meat under where the seeds had been. Is this cause for concern?

What is causing this leaf damage on my cantaloupe? (petit gris)

Cantaloupe    California

Been treating with a neem oil and castille soap solution just incase its a fungus, but no success. The die off has begun around the center of the plant and is spreading outwards. The death on the leaves begins on the edges and moves inward. Thanks for your consideration.
