Should I remove yellowing lower leaves on my sunflower plant?

The lower leaves on my sunflower plant turned yellow and crisping a couple of weeks ago or so and I believe that the plant is trying to keep them alive. I wanted to ask if it would be a good idea to snip off the ones as I read that the plant tries to keep the leaves alive by using more effort.

Answers
The bottom leaves are the cotyledons. They've done their job getting the plant started, and now they will die. You may remove them if you wish, but there's no need to do so.

Yes, you can go ahead and remove those small leaves at the bottom, it won't do any harm to the sunflowers.

Usually I was using that as a sign to water but I believe cutting off the dying leaves that the plant was probably using all the resources to keep alive, relieved the plant and it was able to keep the previous water to not let the leaves go scrawny.
